There are a number of different things you can do to help prepare yourself in the event of an earthquake:

Firstly, it is a good idea to choose a family reunion location ahead of time. As well as your home, pick a public location if your home is not accessible or safe. See the My City section for an area you can store some personal notes that will be saved in QuakeAware.

Nominate a long distance relative or family friend to contact, and verify that contact number is stored in your phone. You could fill out this family workbook to help with your planning and share this information with your family ahead of time.

In order to be prepared for an earthquake, it’s a good idea to prepare a storage kit that will help you stay safe until you can be rescued. You can use our online checklist to prepare your kit.
